Our Mission

The mission of the Highland Lake Village Transition Group is to be a catalyst for helping our neighborhood steadily become more resilient. We do this by enhancing connection and community, supporting the principles of sustainable gardening and construction, and working to conserve all forms of energy and natural resources.

Further information about why Transition is important.

This article from the New York Times of July 12 provides an instructive look at the delicate interface among weather, climate, oil, water, and our food supply.  Highly recommended.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

A second meeting of all interested HLV residents will be held on Wednesday, August 3, at 7:00 p.m. in the Kudzu Cottage (on the grounds of Season's Restaurant).    The purpose of the meeting will be for the steering group to share its thinking about a barter type system, learn from participants what services they are willing to volunteer to provide, and for questions to be aired.   Steering group members are Gloria Jaffe, Joan Kennedy, Kaye McDonnell, Maralee McMillan, and Ron Redmon.
